Via: DFID:
The Department for International Development (DFID) is the branch of the British government dedicated to eliminating world poverty. Its largest programme is in India – home to a third of the world’s poor. As India’s largest bilateral grant donor, DFID recognises that it has a special responsibility to measure what its money is achieving, and to explain the results of its work to people in the UK and India alike. We are looking for two energetic professionals to lead DFID India in fulfilling these responsibilities:
Results Adviser: You will strengthen the ways DFID measures and demonstrates impact, actively seeking evidence of what works to improve the performance of DFID programmes. Working in a policy leadership role, the post holder will liaise closely with spending teams to implement our Results Action Plan. We expect the post holder to have strong professional skills, with an appetite to innovate and lead evidence-based decision making. Experience of designing and executing impact evaluations would be an advantage.
Communications Adviser: The high incidence of poverty in India is not widely understood in the UK, and can often be hidden behind glossy images. In collaboration with others, you will build a stronger public understanding of this challenge and explain how DFID activities make a difference. The successful applicant will develop a communications strategy, manage media interactions, work with audiences in both the UK and India to deliver DFID’s development agenda and help DFID India use communications more strategically to deliver its objectives. The ideal candidate will have strong professional skills combined with ambitious vision and a strong drive to deliver change.
Applications: The successful candidates will be employed on a local contract. To apply, one must either be an Indian national or have necessary employment permit to work in India. DFID is an equal opportunities employer and encourages applications from all parts of the community. The starting salary for the post will be £21,847 per annum plus other benefits.
Closing date for applications: 17 July, 2009
